Buller qualify for Meads Cup play-offs

Buller hopped out to a six-point lead in the Pink Batts Heartland Championship when beating West Coast 29-24 in a close game in Westport on Saturday.

Poverty Bay, courtesy of a 17-9 win over Thames Valley moved into second place and is assured of a place in the Meads Cup play-offs with Buller.Horowhenua Kapiti helped their chance of also qualifying by beating South Canterbury 23-11 but faces a tough opponent in the last round when travelling to Gisborne to meet Poverty Bay.South Canterbury and Mid Canterbury are tied on 21 points after Mid Canterbury beat North Otago 28-7 in Ashburton.

The winner of next week’s clash between the neighbours should qualify for the Meads play-offs.Results were:
