THE 1905 SEASON:
Only one representative match was played, Buller meeting West Coast after a break of nine years:

v West Coast At Westport Drew 3 to 3

Touring New Zealand this year was Australia for the first time. Earlier sides from across the Tasman to visit these shores had been either from New South Wales or Queensland, this time the two states combining.

One fixture was against a XV representing Marlborough-Nelson-Buller-West Coast the match being played at Nelson and won by the home side, 12-3, the scores consisting of two tries, one conversion and one goal from a mark (counted 4 points) to one penalty goal. D. Dennehy (Westport White Star), W. D. McPike (Westport) and J. McNally (Westport) were Buller members of the successful team.
