THE 1908 SEASON:
Buller played two games this year, one a Seddon Shield challenge:-

v. West Coast At Greymouth Lost 4 to 11
v. Marlborough* At Blenheim Lost 3 to 6 {Seddon Shield}

The highlight of the season was the visit of the Anglo-Welsh side to Westland.

Buller and West Coast combined to play at Greymouth, Buller players to appear in the match being Samuel Bligh (Westport), W. Brown (Granity Rover), Robt. A. Colvin (Westport White Star), John Corbett (Westport White Star), F. C. Denham (Westport Rival), E. Hogg (Granity Rover) and M. Maddison (Granity Rover).

Of note was the initial contest for the Championship Shield in place of the former senior competition:

the first winner of the Shield was Granity Rover Club.
