THE 1912 SEASON:
Buller had no representative matches in 1912, interest seemingly being at a low ebb. However, there was some outside recognition to compensate.
One such fell to the lot of J.G.Nolan (Westport White Star), who, as the fifth Buller man to receive South Island honours, appeared in the Inter-Island match at Napier.
Again a South Island Country team was assembled, the tour undertaken taking in Auckland, Taranaki, Wanganui and Wellington. All the fixtures were lost. At the conclusion of the tour North Island Country was met at Wellington, the match being abandoned at half-time owing to adverse weather conditions; North Island Country was leading (14-3) at the abandonment.
Buller members of the touring side were H.(“Derby”)Atchison (Westport), Thos.Fisher (Westport White Star), T.A.French (Westport), M.Hale (Westport White Star) and J.G.Nolan (Westport White Star).
