THE 1922 SEASON:
Buller had two players in the South Island XV in the Inter Island fixture, both G.V.Goodall (Granity Rover) and K.S.Svenson (Westport White Star) gaining selection.

Another Buller player to wear the All Black jersey was K.S.Svenson (Westport White Star), who after playing for New Zealand against Wairarapa went to Australia, where, however, he could not play owing to illness; on his return to New Zealand he was one of the XV against New Zealand Maoris.

K.S.Svenson was later to earn much renown as a Wellington representative.

Matches played included a draw against Nelson in a Seddon Shield challenge:

v. West Coast At Greymouth Lost 12 to 14
v. West Coast At Westport Lost 3 to 5
v. Wellington “B” At Westport Lost 6 to 11
v. Nelson At Nelson Drew 6 to 6 {Seddon Shield}

A Sub-Union was formed at Karamea during the season amalgamating Karamea, Little Wanganui and Umere Clubs. Affiliation was made with Buller. The Sub-Union had varied fortunes for several years, and gave some good players to the Union’s side, as well as producing one All Black, before becoming defunct.

Hill United Club as such ceased. Denniston (re-formed) and Denniston Pirate Clubs evolving therefrom. Another new affiliation was Sergeant’s Hill Club, the Club losing identity after 1924.
