THE 1924 SEASON:
Principal interest this season was the selection of the New Zealand team, the “Invincibles” to go overseas, but although Buller was not represented in the side several from the Union took part in the Trials. These were J.Corby (Mokihinui), Stanley Davis (Granity Rover), Tyso Davis (Granity Rover), J.Grice (Granity Rover), L.Griffiths (Granity Rover), R.Moynihan (Mokihinui), T.O’Neill (Westport), C. F.Schadick (Westport White Star), Geo.Stuart (Mokihinui) and R.G.Tunnicliff (Umere).

The four representative fixtures were:-

v. West Coast At Greymouth Won 5 to 3
v. Golden Bay-Motueka At Motueka Lost 6 to 13 {Seddon Shield}
v. West Coast At Westport Won 6 to 5
v. Otago At Westport Drew 11 to 11

The visit of the Otago team was the first from that Union; it was to be thirty-four years before the Otagians returned.

There was an impressive list of affiliations at the time of the Annual Meeting, these being Denniston Pirate, Granity Rover, Mokihinui, Ngakawau, Sergeant‘s Hill, Westport, Westport Rival and Westport White Star Clubs, Karamea Sub-Union, Murchison Sub-Union, Westport District High School and Westport Technical High School. There was no Denniston Club, nor Millerton Rangers Club, but represented for the first time was Waimangaroa United Club, which was to absorb the “odd” Clubs within the area. Millerton Rangers Club returned the next season, when Denniston Pirate Club and Sergeant’s Hill Club dropped out.
