THE 1933 SEASON:
Challenges for both the Seddon Shield and the Ranfurly Shield were included in the five matches played this year; only one win was recorded:-

v. West Coast At Westport Lost 8 to 11
v. West Coast At Greymouth Lost 3 to 7 {Seddon Shield}
v. Nelson At Westport Won 24 to 8
v. Canterbury At Christchurch Lost 3 to 13 {Ranfurly Shield}
v. West Coast At Hokitika Lost 8 to 35

E.C.Holder (Westport Old Boys) represented South Island for the second time; he was a replacement during the match at Wellington.

The Prince Memorial Cup was presented this year. It was allotted to junior competition, which competition this season was divided into Country and Town sections, Denniston Pirate and Waimangaroa United Clubs being placed among the town entries.

Another move was the admittance of Buller Referees’ Association to a seat on the Management Committee of the Union.
