THE 1954 SEASON:

Still Buller had to be content with only one win, that in the first Seddon Shield challenge of the season, but then lost the trophy to West Coast.

Six matches in all were contested, with the Ranfurly Shield played for, for the second year in succession:

v Canterbury At Westport Lost 5 to 13
v West Coast At Hokitika Lost 19 to 22
v West Coast At Westport Lost 3 to 6
v Golden Bay-Motueka At Westport Won 6 to 5 {Seddon Shield}
v West Coast At Westport Lost 0 to 21 {Seddon Shield}
v Canterbury At Christchurch Lost 0 to 22 {Ranfurly Shield}
