It has seeped into all parts of society and our hauora. The communities that make our home beautiful know that it is time to draw the line.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An important part of this journey is to raise awareness of the impact that alcohol has on all sectors and across communities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our efforts recognise the wider role of drinking, as well as its, place, cultural relevance and history, at all levels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This strategic platform approach towards reducing alcohol harm is Amohia Te Waiora \u2013 We\u2019re stronger without alcohol. It is a strengths-based message that means to \u2018uphold our wellness\u2019. It encourages mana motuhake (self-determination) for us to raise up and make our wellbeing a priority.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our alcohol harm minimisation strategy is developed in line with our Te Tiriti dynamic approach. It is strengths-based, community owned, and trusted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our aim for the future is to support communities that are already challenging the role of alcohol in their lives, culture, and future. Amohia te Waiora offers a unifying call for change that can be owned, championed, and raised by communities to reduce harm.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Amohia te Waiora means to \u2018uphold wellness\u2019. It is a call that can be owned and championed by communities, wh\u0101nau, and people who are unified by the need to change the place of alcohol in our society. It reminds us to prioritise our taha wairua, taha tinana, taha hinengaro and taha wh\u0101nau, and it\u2019s about mana motuhake in the action of raising up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The tohu represents the four dimensions of Te Whare Tapa Wh\u0101 and reminds us of balance. We see the need for this in nature, wh\u0101nau, and our communities. In them, we want to ensure that power, health, strength and wellbeing are restored for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Key messages<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen we take back some of the space alcohol fills in our lives and communities, we make space for other, better things.
