THE 1914 SEASON:
Buller’s three matches included two successful defences of the Seddon Shield:

v. West Coast At Westport Won 24 to 8 {Seddon Shield}
v. West Coast At Greymouth Won 12 to 11
v. Marlborough At Westport Won 17 to 6 {Seddon Shield}

When the New Zealand side visited Australia this year the complement included Buller’s second All Black, Thomas Fisher (Westport White Star), who played in five of the fixtures.

Two Inter-Island matches were played this season. Buller was represented in the main South Island XV by Thomas Fisher (Westport White Star), and in the “B” side by H. Aitchison (Westport), W. Callaghan (Westport White Star) and Clement Green (Westport).

World War I came this year, but although enlistments considerably restricted activities the movement of players was not greatly felt until the following season.
