THE 1962 SEASON:

After losing the first seven matches on its fixture list, Buller then won the Seddon Shield from Nelson to complete the season.

This is how the games worked out:

v. West Coast At Westport Lost 6 to 13
v. West Coast At Hokitika Lost 6 to 11
v. Mid-Canterbury At Westport Lost 3 to 11
v. Mid-Canterbury At Ashburton Lost 8 to 13
v. North Otago At Oamaru Lost 8 to 13
v. Canterbury At Christchurch Lost 0 to 11
v. Nelson At Nelson Won 14 to 9 {Seddon Shield}

Nine Buller representatives were in the West Coast-Buller XV, which played the year’s Australian team at Westport, they being G.S.Allan (Westport Old Boys), W.E.Boswell (Ngakawau), R.T.Dawe (Ngakawau), W.F.Duncan (Westport White Star), W.N.Forsyth (Westport), Mason Geddes (Ngakawau), J.W.Halsall (Westport), O.H.Nahr (Westport White Star) and J.B.Shaw (Westport Old Boys).

J.B.Shaw was again a South Island representative, he taking a prop position in the Inter-Island engagement; it was his third appearance in the fixture.
