THE 1975 SEASON:
The improved form of the 1974 season continued into 1975 when a 50% win/loss ratio was achieved and for the first time since 1956 Buller showed a credit balance on the points scored as against points conceded.
The Representative team was based on the strong Ngakawau club side, with that club providing nine players for Buller who made a total of 59 appearances for Buller this season, as many as all other clubs put together.
One of the strongest aspects of this team was its defence. For the only time in Buller’s history, three opponents during the season were kept scoreless.
There were no international tourists this season but Graeme Mourie’s New Zealand Juniors visited Buller with a team which included many future All Blacks.
No Buller players were awarded higher honours but the team had good reason to rate 1975 as a very satisfactory season.
