Andrew is a proud product of Buller, having been born and raised in Westport. His education journey took him from Westport North School to Buller High School, and finally to St Andrews College, where he excelled in both 1st XV rugby and 1st XI cricket. He furthered his passion for sports by earning a degree in sports coaching and management from Canterbury University.

Andrew joined Buller Rugby Union in 2010 as a Rugby Development Officer and has since advanced through various roles, ultimately becoming the CEO. His expertise in people management and his ability to build and nurture strong relationships with stakeholders have been instrumental in his leadership.

A former Buller Rugby representative, Andrew’s love for sports extends beyond rugby. He was a key member of the celebrated 2016 Buller cricket team that clinched the prestigious Hawke Cup.

The Duncan family holds a significant place in Buller Rugby history. Andrew lives in Westport with his wife Ainslie and their children, Spencer and Poppy.

Sharon, hailing from a proud Buller Rugby family, exemplifies professionalism and dedication in her role as Executive Director. A qualified accountant, Sharon brings an exceptional level of expertise and integrity to the organisation. Working closely with CEO Andrew Duncan, she provides stable and effective leadership, ensuring that Buller Rugby Union thrives.

Sharon’s financial management skills and unwavering commitment to the organisation play a crucial role in maintaining smooth and efficient operations. Beyond her executive responsibilities, Sharon also serves on the BRU board, further contributing to the strategic direction and success of Buller Rugby Union.

Tim relocated to Westport at a young age and swiftly emerged as a standout rugby talent. His prowess on the field propelled him to play professionally abroad and with various New Zealand provincial unions.

Joining Buller Rugby Union as a Rugby Development Officer in 2016, Tim quickly made his mark, earning the national RDO award in 2019. His unwavering passion for nurturing young athletes makes him an ideal fit for his current role as Game Development Manager.

Tim’s dedication to fostering the next generation of rugby stars is matched by his commitment to his family. He resides in Westport with his wife Becky and their children, Maddox and Siena, continuing to contribute to the community both on and off the field.

Stella, born and raised in the Buller, has deep roots in the community, with her parents and three siblings still residing here. After completing her tertiary studies in Otago, Stella embarked on her professional journey by joining Buller Rugby Union in March 2023.

In her role as Rugby Development Officer, Stella is passionately dedicated to developing junior rugby, with a strong focus on supporting and expanding the female game. Her enthusiasm for rugby and unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent make her an invaluable asset to the Buller Rugby Union team. Stella’s energy and vision are driving forces in the continued growth and success of rugby in the region.
